A Brief History Of The Lake Norconian Resort
![]() In the 1920's an enterprising man named Rex B. Clark set in motion a chain of events which continues today - from 700 acre playground of the rich and famous, to a Navy rehabilitation hospital which helped influence communicable disease treatments cures and preventions, to the Navys premiere assessment center and state-of-the-art measurement lab, to a ground-breaking drug rehabilitation prison. Sadly, the once magnificent grounds and buildings have fallen into disrepair through simple neglect. Our mission is simply to reverse this trend, stop the destruction, and preserve the site and the millions of dollars worth of art and materials which make up this once regal site.We Need Your Help, Stories, And Artifacts
We are always loking for the stories of those who not only visited or worked at the Norconian, but, those who served at, were patients, correctional officers and even prisoners at the United States Naval Hospital, California Rehabilitation Center or the Naval Warfare Assessment Center. We are also looking for photos, souvenirs, film footage, publications; anything and everything relating to this wonderful site. These items can be donated outright, placed on permanent loan or simply loaned to photograph and document for others to see.
If you have any items of interest or have a connection to the Norconian in any way, please contact us. |
You Can Help Stop The Damage Seen Here The once grand resort has deteriorated on the inside and outside from simple neglect and lack of maintenance of the drains and roof tiles, which have let the elements and animals into the building, increasing the speed of the destruction and the historic losses to priceless artwork.
